for the Break Sniffer Chrome extension • Last updated: 20 Aug 2025

Summary Break Sniffer tracks your own break start/end times on *.theitsupportcenter.net pages and stores them locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data with anyone.

What data we store

Break sessions: an array of objects like { start, end } (epoch ms).
Current break: { start } while a break is active.
Settings: on/off state for tracking.

This data is saved via chrome.storage.local and never leaves your device.

What we do not collect

No page content, messages, or case details.
No browsing history outside the allowed host.
No personal identifiers, cookies, analytics, or advertising IDs.
No remote code execution; all scripts are packaged with the extension.

Why the extension needs permissions

Host permissions

Access to https://*.theitsupportcenter.net/* lets the content script detect when your break starts/ends (by observing the site’s break UI/status endpoints). No page content is collected.

Storage

Saves your timing data locally so totals persist across reloads and restarts.

Scripting

Shows a small toast in the current tab and injects our packaged listener on allowed pages only.

Tabs

Used only to locate the active tab for the toast and to verify the URL matches the allowed host.

Data retention & deletion

Retention: sessions can be kept indefinitely; optionally, the extension may trim older entries (e.g., last 180 days) if you enable that setting.
Delete from the popup: click Reset to clear all stored sessions and any active “current break.”
Uninstall: removing the extension deletes all of its stored data.

Data sharing

We do not share data with third parties. No data is transmitted to our servers; all timing is calculated locally.

Security

All logic runs in the browser sandbox. We don’t use eval, remote scripts, or remote WASM. Host access is limited to the specified domain to perform break detection only.

Your choices

Use the popup toggle to enable/disable tracking at any time.
Use Reset to delete all stored data.
Unpin or uninstall the extension if you no longer wish to use it.
